An Honest Review of VPS.NET wrote 6 Months, 1 Week, 1 Day, 15 Hours, 13 Minutes ago.

Having been with several hosting companies over the past few years I’ve used a fair amount of shared hosting, vps and dedicated hosting services.

I have been with VPS.NET for nearly a year now and I have mixed feelings about them, let me explain why..

The Good

I was initially very impressed with VPS.NET having read some positive reviews. The customisable hosting options and the website itself being very straightforward to use, signing up is a breeze. You can customise your desired hosting plan using “Nodes” to select the amount of CPU and RAM you want, then you can choose the OS and even the location of your vps. When my vps was setup I went straight to the Forums, a great resource of information with most of what I wanted to know having already been asked/answered already. My sites were up and running in no time at all.

The Not So Good

After several months of little to no problems my VPS has now gone down twice in one week and what was worse, I couldn’t do anything to start them back up again. The VPS.NET website allows you basic control of your VPS with the option to Start, Shutdown and Restart your VPS, neither of these options worked so I had to create support tickets each time and wait for them to start it back on for me. I also find that while they fix whatever issues you are having they don't tell you what exactly they fixed and how they fixed it, it would not only help me understand why it happened but it would surely help if the problem occurred again.

But back to The Good

Despite having to make these unnecessary support tickets I have been very pleased at the response time with all my support tickets over the past year which have all been answered within a couple of hours, far quicker than what I was used to from previous hosting providers. "Nodes" as a mentioned before can also be added/removed on your vps as your business/client requires, you can also add daily nodes if you are expecting high traffic on a certain day which is very useful. Another great tool for VPS.NET customers are the free licenses for billing scripts Hostbill and Blesta which are perfect for businesses. VPS.NET are also very sociable being on both twitter and facebook (although I've yet to find them on Google+), they are often running competitions and offers for customers.

These have been the main reasons why I keep my business at VPS.NET.
